Sun and Fun with Marshmallows on Top

We spent a few days last week camping at Hoffmaster State Park. The weather was glorious and the lake warm. There's this little river that flows into the lake at the beach. It's perfect for shallow play and minnow fishing. The kids loved it! Lilyana is quite a little camper...although became a bit monster like on her third napless day. Max slept in a tent all by himself with our dog Rex without blinking an eye . My boy is growing much too fast. The paddle board was a big hit with all, and the flat water conditions were perfect. Cousins Robbins and Audrey and Ni Ni Mona even joined us for a day. It was refreshing to have this short getaway. We were so close to home, but really felt so far!

Happy Father's Day!

Scott was born to be a Dad. In my opinion, there's no higher calling. He's nothing short of amazing at it. As I try to put into words how and why he's such a great Dad, I find myself fumbling for words that will do him justice. So...I'll just give you a little listen to some of the questions ringing off the walls in our house lately.

"Do you want to go for a hike?"

"Do you want to wear a headband?"

"Do you want to go for a 20 mile bike ride to play mini-golf, eat a volcano ice cream cone, and stop at Butch's?"

"Do you want to put motors on our bikes so that we can go even farther?"

"Do you want me to do your hair?"

"Do you want to play one more game on Wii?"

"Do you want to dance?"

"Do you want to go paddleboarding?"

"Do you want to lay down with me?"

"Do you want to dig a REALLY deep hole?"

"Do you want to play with my dolls?"

"Do you want to play hide and seek?"

"Do you want to hide from monsters?"

...and ALWAYS, no matter what he may be doing at the time, Scott says, "Yes".

I told you he was awesome! Happy Father's Day baby...I love you!

Camping in the Great Indoors!

We had been looking forward to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals and decided to let the kids stay up with us to watch. In celebration of this event, we set up Scott's backpacking tent in the family room. The kids were very exicited to sleep in the tent! They ended up watching Sponge Bob (one of the only movies they can agree on) while Scott and I watched the heart breaking game in the other room. When the game was over, we tucked the kids into tent :). Three seconds hadn't passed when Lily tiptoed out and announced, "I want to sleep in my bed!" So much for our indoor camping trip! :)
